Events and Conferences

The Center for Appalachian Studies hosts a variety of events, conferences, and symposiums that bring together scholars, artists, and community members to explore Appalachian and global mountain cultures. These gatherings provide opportunities for collaboration, dialogue, and the sharing of research, performance, and lived experience.

Past events have included the International Mountain Studies Conference and the Global Roots Dance Symposium, which connected participants across disciplines and cultures.

Events are held intermittently and vary in format—from large-scale conferences to smaller focused symposiums. Each gathering highlights the diverse voices and perspectives that enrich our understanding of mountain life, culture, and global connections.
